When evaluating the impact of grant requests, the Foundation looks for opportunities where funds can have the greatest influence while remaining true to our Mission and Vision.
Preliminary Work
We want to know where and why – because understanding your expectations is how we make sure the journey is right for you.
Call the office to discuss your request idea and request an application. The application will be emailed to the address you provide. Please review the Foundation's Grant Guidelines and Mission/Vision/Focus.
The application is in Word format. This allows for ease of completion and return.Required Documents are to be sent to director@vscfinc.org in PDF format:
- Completed Application (president of the board will be required to send email, instructions on application)
- Current 501c3 document
- List of current Board Members
- Organization’s Previous years’ Balance Sheet and Income/Expense Sheet
- Complete Project Budget (income and expenses)
If your grant application is successful, you will receive a Grant Agreement by email (from director@vscfinc.org). The Board President of the organization receiving the grant dollars must sign this agreement. You may scan the signature page and email it to director@vscfinc.org. If you do not have access to scan, please contact the office at 812.427.2533 to make arrangements.
This is the contract between your organization and the Foundation explaining that you must agree to specific conditions to receive the Grant.
This covers all aspects of the Grant:
- Amount of Grant
- Program or project title
- Grant Period Date Range
- Contingency (if any)
- Payment Schedule
- Final Report Due (if any reports for previous awards are past due, the organization is disqualified to submit another grant application. A discussion with the Foundation and a report filed will be required to be reinstated.)
There will be no checks issued unless the Foundation office has a fully executed grant agreement in its possession.
The Foundation will not issue a check until an email is received requesting the awarded funds. It may take up to two weeks after a request is received to process the check. The Foundation offers direct deposit.
The Final Grant Report is important as this is the way the Foundation sees how the money was spent and the impact that the money has had on the organization, community or the clients they serve. It is also the way the Foundation can see if the success criteria mentioned in the grant application were actually met.
Future grants can very well be impacted based on the quality of the information and how closely the grantee has adhered to their initial grant request. Any deviation in the project’s implementation as described on the grant application should always be cleared in writing to the Foundation prior to the changes being implemented. (please call the office to discuss first).
